Deepika Padukone has been announced winner of this HOT 100 title from Maxim magazine. She joins the likes of previous no 1’s Lindsay Lohan, Eva Longoria, Marissa Miller.
The elegant actress has already bagged prestigious brand endorsements like Levi Strauss, Tissot and Kingfisher and many interesting film projects. Her second release ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ with beau Ranbir Kapoor is set to release on Aug 15.
State-run BSNL has appointed Deepika Padukone as its new brand ambassador replacing Preity Zinta.
BSNL, country's largest telecom operator with 74 mn customers, has not renewed Zinta's contract that ended last week as it was eager to associate the brand with a younger face.
Padukone has been contracted for a year, a Bharat Sanchar Nigam official said.
According to industry sources, Depika has been hired at a higher fee than Zinta.
Among the handset companies, BSNL's rival Airtel has cine stars like Vidya Balan and Madhavan as ambassadors. Besides, Spice has hired Katrina Kaif, Nokia has Shah Rukh Khan and Amir Khan joins Samsung Mobile phones.
BSNL has off late been very aggressive in its marketing exercise in order to shed the typical PSU image and be seen as a lively brand for all categories of users.
The company is learnt to have a Rs 100 crore ad and marketing budget.

The first Tata Open All India Badminton Tournament was held in Bombay Gymkhana on Thursday. Deepika Padukone graced the occasion to pay tribute to her father, ace badminton champion Prakash Padukone, and played a friendly match against him.
"I think the future of Indian Badmintton is very bright. And I wish all the badminton players all the best," the Bachna Ae Haseeno star said.
Soha Ali Khan, who claims to be a state level badminton player till class 10, too, played a friendly game against Deepika.
"I haven't played the game at such a professional level before. It was great fun because I’m a great fan of badminton," Soha said.
Though we may not see Deepika pick up the racket professionally, we sure look forward to seeing a few aces from the actress on the big screen.
